Souks, markets in Morocco’s medinas, are a combination
of small stalls peddling everything from fresh produce,
meat, cheese, spices, prepared foods, as well as many
household goods. As in Medieval Europe, the trades still
congregate in certain areas in certian modern medinas.
This is still particulary evident in Fes. The copper
smith, light fixtures, carpet shops, tanneries and food
stalls all occupy their own unique location. I have
created a little slideshow with Moroccan food typically
found in any souk such as pomegranates, dates, figs and
olives along with a few unusual delicacies, tree
strawberries, snails, camel feet and trid/phyllo in the
making.
