Why is Africa called the “DARK CONTINENT”? While the reference may be alluding to the dark mysteries enveloping the UNEXPLORED CONTINENT, this misperception has lingered into the 21st century. There is NOTHING dark about Africa at all… Africa’s landscape, flora & fauna, and people are bursting with colorful diversity.
Bit by the Africa bug in 1999, I have been on safari in Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, and Tanzania. I have walked with the Sumburu in the Likipia area of Kenya, witnessed sifaka lemurs dancing under in Madagascar’s spiny forest, trekked to observe gorilla in both Uganda and Rwanda. A few years ago, I returned on safari to my “first love”, Botswana.
